The Food and Drug Administration has just amended its food additive regulations to permit ozone use as an anti-microbial agent.
The amendment, published in the Federal Register on June 28, 2001 allows for ozone use in gaseous and aqueous forms, and for safe and effective anti microbial treatment of meat, poultry, and other food products.
Tests have shown that common household bacteria, mold, mildew, and fungus are greatly reduced by the addition of as little as 50 ppb (equals .05 ppm) of ozone in typical household environments. Laboratory tests results indicate that ozone has been shown to dramatically reduce populations of: E-Coli, Salmonella Choleraesuis, Staphylococcus Aureua, Candida Albicans, and Aspergillus Niger.

All Star Sanitize’s Ozone Sanitize application method is effective in addressing the following:
Sanitization: As a gas, ozone is a powerful sanitizer capable of eliminating biological pollutants such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi, thus maintaining microbiological control.
Deodorization: Because it is a strong oxidant, ozone attacks unpleasant odors (e.g. from smoke, cooking, mildew, pets, and etc.) at their source, permanently eliminating the source and associated smell.
Allergen Elimination: Dust mites, pollen, and other allergens cannot survive an indoor ozone shock treatment, bringing some relief to allergy sufferers.
Disaster Remediation: Ozone has been used to remediate indoor environments impacted by fire, floods, and other disasters.
Chemical Pollutants: Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) such as benzene, formaldehyde, methylene chloride, and others are oxidized and destroyed by ozone.

What an Ozone shock treatment application does not do – The application of ozone to purify the indoor environment is an effective broad based sanitization strategy, however, it does not:
Remove Dead Mold: Ozone shock treatments will kill any mold; however, the dead mold still must be physically removed, since even dead mold can be allergenic. Additionally, the moisture source in the building/residence must be eliminated to prevent the mold from reoccurring.
Create a Pest Control Barrier: Ozone shock treatments may drive insects / pests out of a building; however, there is no residual effect to prevent pests from returning.
Remove Carpet Stains: Ozone shock treatments will eliminate the chemical and biological pollutants in carpets; however, it will not eliminate a stain.
Remove Solid Biological Pollutants: Ozone Shock treatments cannot eliminate / disintegrate a solid contaminant like a dead animal, standing pool of contaminated liquid, solid fecal matter, etc. Solid Pollutants should be removed prior to ozone treatment to insure any residual bacteria, fungus, viruses and odors can then be remedied.
Replace Dry Cleaning: Ozone shock treatments will sanitize clothing, bedding, and window coverings; however, professional dry cleaning may be required to remove visible residue / stains.
Mitigate Radon Issues: Ozone shock treatments will oxidize radon gas; however, because the gas continually forms in the soil underneath the property, actual mitigation strategies are required.
